Karachi to Experience Prolonged Rainy Spell with Chilly Temperatures

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast indicating that Karachi is likely to experience additional rain accompanied by thunderstorms on this Sunday. The city’s weather is expected to turn cooler as a result of these conditions. According to the Met Office, the upcoming 24 hours in the port city will see a mix of clouds, creating a partly cloudy atmosphere.
As of now, the temperature in Karachi has dropped to a minimum of 18.4°C, with humidity at 66%. The prevailing winds, blowing from the northeast at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, contribute to the overall weather dynamics. Meteorologist Owais Haider predicts the possibility of drizzle and light rain today, with a noticeable increase in cold, bringing the minimum temperature down to around 15°C.
December Rain Anticipated and Comparisons to Last Year’s Weather
Another rain spell in Karachi during December. However, he assures that the city’s temperatures won’t reach the same chilly levels experienced last year. Karachi and other Sindh cities recently experienced a cold snap with rain and hailstorms. Heavy rain was reported in Gulshan Iqbal and Gulistan Johar, while various areas, including II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Old City Area, Defence, Clifton, and nearby regions, witnessed drizzle.
Light and heavy rain led to power outages in different parts of the metropolis. In Hyderabad, the weather remained consistently cloudy, with some areas, including Latifabad, Jamshoro, and Thana Bula Khan, receiving varying degrees of rainfall. The forecast also extends to Tharparkar, Umarkot, Badin, and Mirpurkhas, where rain accompanied by winds is expected.
