One-Day Workshop on Referral Mechanism with Relevant Stakeholders for Flood Affected Communities was held at Students Societies Centre, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur jointly organized by the Thardeep Rural Development Program (TRDP), International Rescue Committee (IRC) and International Organization of Migration (IOM). Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto Vice Chancellor presided the workshop. Mr. Fazal Hussain Avesi, Additional Secretary, Human Rights Department, Govt. of Sindh was the chief guest of the event.
Talking to the participants of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said IRC, IOM and TRDP contributed significantly for the rural community in the wake of flood havoc 2022. He said University is not isolate from community engagements. We have contributed and stride meaningfully for the capacity building of the various segments of the society. This workshop was a consultative for the strengthening the working of line departments assertively in the days of trial.
Mr. Fazal Hussain Avesi said no doubt the incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto is a role model for society providing patronage for the social work and community development at large. He appreciated the efforts of TRDP for it’s philonthrophit posture for downtrodden people. He said Human Rights Department will assist for the promotion and protection of Human Rights.
Mr. Jai Parkash, Project Manager TRDP briefed about the project. He said referral directory is being prepared in order to collaborate with the line departments of Khairpur District. He said we rendered our relief services at 30 Villages of Khairpur or the flood affected people. Mr. Jai Parkash maintained that the capacity building of the line departments will be improved with the help of this training workshop.
Earlier, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences cordially welcomed the participants in the workshop.
Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Incharge Students Societies Centre delivered vote of thanks and briefed about the objectives for the establishment of this first ever Students Societies Centre in the Public Sector Universities in Pakistan.
The certificates were distributed among the participants of Government Line Departments and key Stakeholders.
